Version 2.0.1 Posted

Version 2.0.1 posted of the AV Aid App.

Many improvements in this update, but we are still looking to improve the AV Aid app even further in the future.  Below are a few ideas from our current wishlist for future releases.

– Selectable resolution outputs
– HDCP test for HDMI
– The ability for users to select a test song from their song library
– The ability for users to select a test image from their image library
– A more appropriate test song
– The ability to send test patterns via Apple TV

    Hi,

I work for a University as an AV designer and the two ideas in your wishlist of future features that would be most useful for us are:

    – HDCP tests for HDMI

    – Selectable Resolution Outputs

Another feature that would be awesome is to check whether EDID is being received correctly. If your app had all these features so many AV professionals would buy your app as it would have all the features of testing gear that costs >$5000+

Thanks for the message. Yes, those suggestions are totally on our radar. HDCP testers are tricky, I’m pretty sure you have to buy a valid ‘key’ which I haven’t priced, but I’m pretty sure it’s really costly. Edid and resolution switching would be totally useful, and both are on my to-do list. Thanks!

Hey, thanks for getting back to me. Could the HDCP key be purchased as an add-on upgrade? We would definitely buy this for our whole team if so. FYI we have been testing HDCP so far by using a purchased iTunes Store movie as the DRM requires HDCP to be functioning for the movie to play through the lightning adapter.

Any idea how far away EDID and selectable resolution would be? We would definitely pay good money for these upgrades if you sold them as modules. Especially if VESA standard resolutions were supported as well as 16:10 resolutions like 1280 x 800.

A bug I have noted in the current version is when you select a test image, there is now way to return to the main menu…this is on an iPhone 5s.

I’m heavy into production on my second app at the moment (a game.. that’s all i can say) , but I’ll set aside some time and see if I can make any of these improvements you are talking about. (Also, i’ve been meaning to have a popup window explain the swipe-up exit the first time you enter the image section..) Glad you figured it out. I’m also a tech for a college, so I can see the advantage to having those features.

Just FYI the latest version now detects available resolutions and will output color bars at custom resolutions.

    Just downloaded av aid
There appears to be no way to select a resolution!
All I get whatever the size the phone is putting out
This does not allow me to set up a digital projector

What good is your app if I can not use it to help set up av equipment. It has some good features but it would be better if I could see them in the proper resolution that I want my show to be on. To me this program was a waist of mpney.

At the time of creation I was not sure how to set the output resolution. I have learned some new skills since then, and will definitely try to implement this in future updates.
